Halloween Cookies & Painted Pumpkins

Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. It isn't that I hate it, but I don't like the haunted houses and the creepy stuff that goes on! Something I do love to do is make Halloween sugar cookies! This year my mom and I came up with a few simple ideas that turned out so cute and were super easy.

We first made these cute orange pumpkins. We made the frosting out of the "favorites" cookbook. Amy's frosting is my favorite! If you don't have this cookbook I would highly suggest it. It has a lot of really good and simple recipes. A lot of my families favorite dinners come from this book.
These spiderweb cookies look a lot harder to make than they really are. First, I frosted a round sugar cookies with white frosting. Second, I made black frosting and put a dot in the middle of the cookie. I then piped two circles around the black dot. Lastly, I took a toothpick and started on the dot and drug the toothpick to the edge of the cookie. Super easy :)
These little mummy cookies were my favorite of the three we did. We iced the cookie with white frosting and then used our piping bag  drizzling from left to right creating "wrap". I found the eyes in the baking section of the grocery store I shop at. You can find them in almost any grocery store, especially during Halloween.

My favorite Halloween tradition is painting pumpkins. Growing up my family would always carve pumpkins. It was so messy and took so so long. So this year we painted pumpkins and it was so much fun! I love that I could add color and that there weren't "pumpkins guts" everywhere. Colby goes to school at the University of Utah so obviously we had to paint our pumpkins the way we did ;)

I hope you have a great Halloween!
